Happy Senior Citizens Month!
May is Senior Citizens Month! In April 1963, a meeting between President John F. Kennedy and the National
Council of Senior Citizens resulted in designating May Seniors Citizens Month, known today as Older
Americans Month.
Everyone needs to be cognizant of home safety, something especially important for the senior population. As a professional home organizer, I always
consider this when working with anyone, especially older folks. Do they have to reach too high to get something? Are there any tripping hazards (for
example, rugs or pieces of furniture in a place that make it awkward or unsafe to walk around them. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has an

May 15th was National Senior Fraud Awareness Day. Unfortunately, senior citizens are often targets of fraud. It is vital that, as a society, we educate and
stay educated on the harm fraud can cause. Here’s an article highlighting some of the most common scams to watch out for.
