How to get Motivated to Clean Your Room

It is no lie that most people aren’t into cleaning their rooms.  We often find this task

boring, tedious and time-consuming. However, a tidy room makes life so much easier! It

doesn’t have to be as mundane as you think. Here’s four ways to make cleaning and organizing a ittle, dare I say it-FUN!

1. Listen to music: Music is a great way to boost motivation! Turn on the radio to get the  energy flowing. Tip: choose upbeat music that isn’t too distracting. It also might be a good idea to choose a playlist that works best for you.

2. Visualize: The process can be draining, but the results are so rewarding! Try

visualizing what an organized room can look like. If this doesn’t work, maybe look at

some pictures on Instagram or Pinterest for inspo. Take a moment to really think about

what the revamped  space can look like for you and how it can benefit your life.

3. Set a timer: It is key to spend the right amount of time on this task. Don’t just start for

a few minutes and stop. On the other hand, don’t overdo it! Set a timer for say 10 minutes

dedicated to one part of your room. If you’re working especially with a larger and/or

more messy area,  take breaks if needed.

4. Set goals: Make sure you’re setting realistic and solid goals. It also might help to write

down these goals and ways to achieve them. A clear and direct plan is always a great

motivator. Make sure you’re rewarding yourself after a hard day of working! Take before

and after pictures to see your achievement!

I hope this helped to give some tips on how to make the task fun! As a professional

organizer, I understand cleaning isn’t easy for everyone. If you’re still struggling with

If you want to donate unwanted items after cleaning/organizing, I have a free download on my website with

places to donate in New Jersey. Try to purchase any bins/organizing products after you determine what you

want to keep. This way you always have most useful systems and are able to easily find things.
